Delicate Velvet Sheen Obsidian
in Argentium Sterling Silver

This pendant displays a soft and delicate Velvet Sheen Obsidian. Ripples of color float throughout the black background.

Obsidian is one of the oldest materials to be worked by man and it can be found in abundance all over the world. Also known as volcanic glass, obsidian provides a wide variety of lapidary materials in a wonderful array of colors and patterns, often with very interesting visual effects.

This stone is hand cut by me and it is wrapped in Argentium Sterling Silver.  It is displayed on a Sterling Silver chain.

It is approximately 24 carats in weight and 2 inches in length from the top of the bail to the bottom of the stone. It is about 1 ¼ inches in width at the widest point.

Argentium® Sterling Silver is a patented and trademarked alloy that is at least 92.5% pure silver, just like traditional sterling silver. What makes it different from traditional sterling silver is that a small amount of germanium replaces some of the copper that is usually the other 7.5% of sterling silver. Peter Johns, a professor of silversmithing at Middlesex University in England, invented Argentium® Sterling Silver in 1996.

Argentium® Sterling Silver is highly tarnish-resistant and does not firescale.
